Chico State baseball team opened the NCAA Western Regional with a 7-6 win over top-seeded Western Oregon. Chico grabbed a 5-1 lead, only to see Western Oregon tie the game at 5-5. Chico scored 2 in the 8th and held on for the win.  The Wildcats will play their second round game against Dixie State at 5pm Friday.  Mike Baca has the play-by-play.  The Wildcats will be on 101.7 fm.  The Giants game against Oakland, later in the evening will be broadcast on 1340 am, Fox Sports.
